REST is a dashboard system designed to make restaurants shifts and data display in one convenient place, showing the tables layout, orders and reservations along with other information for the restaurants use.

The problem→

Current restaurants management systems are BAD. Their main users are young, 20 something y.o waiters and hostesses who are tech savvy, consume social media sites and apps on a regular everyday basis and are surrounded by devices. And yet, the systems they use for their 8, 9, even 12 hour shifts are outdated, non user friendly, confusing and busy on the eyes and senses.

A dashboard system containing all the information and features needed to run a successful shift, In a much more smart and clean design, meant to lower the cognitive load and create a more organized, seamless experience for the restaurant employees.

Host calls mapping

A mapping of the incoming calls to the restaurant's host and the action he/she needs to perform, in order to understand the right layout of the dashboard.

Conclusions from the calls mapping:

The host needs filtering by day and day/night shift
The host needs to perform calls from inside the dashboard
The host needs most popular actions to be shown first: # of open seats per day, add/edit reservations and search bar

Wireframes

After considering the main users and uses of the dashboard, I built the wireframes for the app in a way that makes the everyday, popular actions as accessible as possible in order to minimize the cognitive load.
